Who is the Bookish Beauty

I am fascinated with alternative fashion and historical fashion. I find my inspiration in a wide variety of different styles: vintage clothing, Lolita, dolly kei, mori girl, goth, steampunk. Add that to a lifelong love of historical clothing and you have a widely varied set of fashion influences.

I am an academic. Beyond an obvious love of books, I enjoy doing research to add depth to everything I do and my clothing is no exception. I think about the consequences of the clothing I choose, the use of fashion as language and vehicle for communication. I examine the impact of my clothing on the people around me and on myself.

This blog is a coming together of both.
